When she puts her mind to it, Millie can accomplish things in a short space of time.

Inspired by her meeting with The Center For The It’s Better To be Hearing, and its new technology to metamorphose deafies into hearing people, Millie-Tent set about creating a new aggregator to aggregate all sources of information on how to become hearing. She worked tirelessly into the night coding, programming, designing, drafting the editorial policy, and gathering RSS feeds.

She had spent the previous night mulling over posssible names: Babble Town, Babble Tower, Psychotic Hearies, Neither Here Nor There, Millie’s Hearing Machine, Psycho Babble, and Mummy Looks After Us. Until just before dawn, she settled on the name, “Deafies Hate Us”.

She immediately started informing her network, and causing much joy and consternation amongst her mother and her detractors.

It is now 6.23 pm, Monday 26 January, 2009, and Desma and just returned home from a jubiliant day, with her family, celebrating Australia Day. Waltzing Matilda was hopping about in her head, when she logged on to DeafRead and saw the link announcing the aggregator, “Deafies Hate us!”

“Indeed we do. ” She muttered. Fag dangling from her lips.

But she saw red, when she red Millie’s post, informing all and sundry, that she will be heading the mili-medicalisation of all deaf children. Desma began throwing pots and pans about the kitchen. She cursed Millie. Hoping that her fanny becomes infested with the fleas of a 1000 camels. And she blooged to that effect.

Millie just cooed, and posted Desma a link to a video, where she unconvincingly tried to calm Desma’s concerns.

The video was not captioned, subtitled, transcribed nor sign interpreted. It was titled, “Acute AVT Session!”

Just as the Deaf, deaf, hearing impaired, impaired hearies, partially deaf, partially hearing, and the audiologically challenged discovered a new found unity, exchanging air kisses and emoticons, via pen and paper, and assorted finger pointing and grunts, the Australian branch of The Center For The It’s Better To be Hearing, announced a new technology that will metamorphose deafies into hearing people.

Desma Hunt, upon hearing the news, declared a national day of action against the mili-medicalistion of Deaf people. Standing on the steps of Parliament House in Canbera, battling the cold in white dressing gown, hair in curlers, bright red lipstick and thick mascara, she waved her large frypan manically.

“We will fight them in the labs! We will fight them in the surgeries! And we will blast their fucking testing rooms with high frequency cat farts!”

Meanwhile, over in the States, known as Up There to Australians, Millie-Tent Millie swung into action. Conferring with The Center For The It’s Better To Be Hearing, at their head office in Washington DC, they plotted in great detail, the mili-medicalisation of deafies.

Millie-Tent Millie, known to bloggers for her tireless efforts in hearing advocacy, tried to placate Desma via her blog, Millie Tent Implants, stating: “It is not you we are after, it is your children. It is a painless process, after which they will experience the wonderful world of sound! Don’t you want to free them from the terrorism of deafness?”

“ The people at The Center For The It’s Better To Be Hearing, are the latest in the long congo line of suckholes!” Desma, ranted in reply: “And Millie wants to lead.” she cackled
