Remains Of The Day [Just A Closer Walk With Thee]

I am looking forward to cracking that $75 dollar bottle of Shiraz tomorrow night [NYE]. I will be in the mountains with a long time friend, but I have already started toasting all the good people who have graced my life, both old friends and new friends.

My mate Damian said it best, before we  closed our chat Christmas Eve morning, Sydney time.

“It’s been really good to connect to you again ………. and I really hope you really have a tremendous a new lease of life as with the new found Tone [edited of course, I'm not sharing everything here.]

It’s a sentiment I extend to several of my friends, for whom good things are in the offing.

I have known Damian since 1993. I met him when he was brought out to Australia by a friend to run an FYD [Friends For The Young Deaf] workshop in Australia. FYD is long defunct, but our friendship endures. Damian and I, really established our friendship outside of FYD, and so is not dependent on an artificial structure to survive. It has been a decade since I last saw him, and fate intervened to allow us to reconnect, and reaffirm our friendship.

Over the years, I have done many walks with my friends over the years, both here and back in the UK. They have all been enormously enjoyable, even when we butted heads. For my close friends there is much love, for which I take with me into 2010, along with Art, Love, Business and Home.

So all, that is left to say in the closing hours of 2009, is that I am looking forward to many more walks with me friends.
